Guest guest Posted June 17, 2000 Report Share Posted June 17, 2000 Dear Dr. Rutledge I just wanted to send a note and tell you that I work at a small hospital in Cullman, Alabama and I recently found out that one of the surgeons who uses our hospital use to do open gastric bypass surgery when he practiced in a larger town, so i ask him if he would look at the pt. manual and tell me his option of the MGB I also gave him a copy of the letter you presented at the ASBS meeting. He was impressed, he told me that he was very impressed with the fact that you have a web site such as closnet that informs people who are thinking of this type of surgery of all the complications that are possible and your success rate is wonderful.He said that if everything in the paper was true and there was NO DOUBT IN HIS MIND THAT THEY ARE because if you weren't having such success you wouldn't have 6oo+ post op pts. you would have stopped if complications were a problem. He told me, Vicki this is a big decision your making to force a change in your lifestyle and remember that it could result in your death so make sure you have everything in order (children,spouse,family and a living will) before you go,but in my option this Dr.s technic looks GREAT so if you have made the choice to have this surgery than yeah go for it.
