Guest guest
Just to butt into an ingoing conversation with Deb..... had the ESSAL procedure. But they left out doing antibiotics everyday because they would have had to really fight him and he was already traumatized enough. He had problems after the surgery. Because of the anesthesia they used and the cocaine, his sats dropped to the low eighties and we had to stay in ICU, pediatric ward was full of RSV cases, until they were at least mid nineties. After we got home he did OK, not great but OK. He had a splint in eacxh nostril about four inches long. Now he was two when they did all this so you can imagine the squirming we did when they took them out a week later. Two weeks after the initial surgery he went in for a clean out then two more weeks passed and they did another one. Each time he cultured PA and they put Tobradex ointment in the sinus cavity. When he had the procedure done, they took out some bone to make the sinus opening bigger. February 14 was the last procedure and at the end of March we had a CT scan done and his sinus were COMPLETELY full already. But that is rarely the case from what I hear. I have been told that his sinuses are unique for his age and they usually aren't as bad as his until at least nine or ten. So our experience wasn't all that great, but most kids do really well, we just happen to have the exception to the rule. OK I don't understand why some kids gain weight so readily and others lag behind. is three and a half and only weighs 28#. My daughter no cf is seven and weighs 60#. I just don't get why some kids, on the same high calorie, high fat, high protein diet just don't pick up the weight. I even lost all the weight I had been gaining eating like he should, hoping it would transfer but it didn't work. mom to 3wcf (and still fighting the sinuses) and Brenna 7 wocf (thinks she is all that and a bag of fries!!!) _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
