Guest guest
I had supposed IBD for 37 years. Started out as " colic " as a baby...turned into the diagnosis of " colitis " as a child....turned into diagnosis of " IBD " as a teen-ager and young adult.....and at the age of 37/last year turned into the diagnosis of Celiac Disease/yet Celiac Panel and DNA test came back negative...EGD and biopsy came back positive for CD! Not always related to weight loss...have pendulum swing from 230 to 124 pounds all my life....lowest 90 pounds! This is what MY IBD felt like. Horrible cramping, diarrhea, constipation...always made worse with stress, certain foods such as dairy/esp icecream, high starch, and tomato. Felt like food just sat inside of me....horrible full feeling that would lead me to be " bulimic " (throw up) to get relief (yet never had bingeing behavior of true bulimic! Always had " heart burn " or reflux..... Often times distress becoming so horrible would end up in ER! Where they would give atropine and IV fluids for dehydration or pain. Often telling me to calm my nerves...when their test failed to detect something REAL! At one time even being labeled " anorexic " / " bulemic " and " hypochondriac " ...or it being in " my Head " ..... Ended up seeing a shrink that diagnosed me with all sorts of mental problems (now I know to be related to a damaged gut!) When diagnosed with Celiac Disease...the gluten free diet did not work! The SCDIET is! Depression and anxiety, in just 29 days is lifting with help of diet/supplementations of good SCD vitamins/B12 nasal gel/shots/ and enzymes!) Have a ways to go...but can't deny that I am on the right track! THANK GOD! There it is...a long story made short! Hope this helps! Antoinette (SCD entire family SCD day 29) How do you know if you have IBD? I know that many of you on the SCD have IBD or UC.
