Guest guest
My 5.11 y/o daughter 's speech has improved greatly with DAN!-type treatments and time to the point where I don't usually consider her to have speech apraxia anymore, but ... today she had a massive crying jag/temper tantrum that we alleviated by sticking some juice in front of her face and telling her to drink. This is the most extreme case we have had yet where she doesn't seem to be able to talk when thirsty. She frequently will start crying at the dinner table if we forget to get her something to drink - and it only ends when we remember the drink thing. It's kind of similar when she is very tired. She doesn't talk, no matter if she is calm or upset. In general behaviorally she is fairly normal, but sometimes hyperactive and always exuberant. Anyone else have a similar story or insight? Thanks PS. Today she was finishing up a week at her cousin's, which incidentally was a week without vitamins and cod liver oil. Coincidence? The trigger for the tantrum was that her cousin didn't want her to play with a toy. This was totally forgotten during the crying jag and never came up again. Guest guest
Is it possible that in addition to being thirsty, her blood sugar is low?? How often does she eat/drink something caloric? > > Have you ever noticed whether your daughters hands and feet are abnormally > hot when these episodes have occurred???? > > _____ > > From: > [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Sonja Grear > Sent: Saturday, August 05, 2006 3:06 AM > > Subject: [ ] No speech when thirsty or tired - anyone > else? > > > > My 5.11 y/o daughter 's speech has improved greatly with > DAN!-type treatments and time to the point where I don't usually > consider her to have speech apraxia anymore, but ... > > today she had a massive crying jag/temper tantrum that we alleviated > by sticking some juice in front of her face and telling her to drink. > This is the most extreme case we have had yet where she doesn't seem > to be able to talk when thirsty.
