Guest guest
Hi listmates, My family has been SCD for nearly two years and added LOD restrictions about six months ago. As you all know we have very few convenience items with these restrictions. About eight months ago I was using Applegate beef hot dogs when they changed their recipe. I contacted them immediately and they hadn't heard from many people yet and were still deciding whether to change their recipe back. So I quit using their product. Soon after we started LOD, I heard back from Applegate that they were going to be making some changes but with LOD, I wasn't thrilled with the beet and celery derivatives. I found hot dogs were better suited and my children liked them better so I was thrilled and began using them. I just found out that is making similar ingredient changes which would prevent me from using their beef hot dogs also. I contacted them and spoke with Bonnie but she was filling in for someone and didn't know many answers to my questions and will be getting back to me. She said they would only change their recipe back if enough calls were logged requesting the change. I immediately thought of you all! I don't know how many of you use beef hot dogs but even if you don't, if you could call/email them and briefly let them know that you will be unable to use their product in the new form, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! The old ingredients are as follows: Beef, water, contains less than 2% of the following: salt, honey, ground mustard, white pepper, coriander, paprika, allspice, onion powder and garlic powder. The new ingredients are: beef, water, less than 2% of the following: sea salt, honey, evaporated cane juice, mustard (she is to call me back about whether it is dry or prepared), nutmeg, pepper (didn't know type she will c/b - I prefer white pepper for LOD), allspice, ginger, paprika, onion powder, veg juice powder (she is to c/b about the source), lactic acid starter culture (she didn't know anything about this either). Being both LOD/SCD, I would prefer they just went back to the old recipe. She said the changes were made for improved taste. The contact info for is: www.colemannnatural.com or email at: coleman@.... If you can make the time to give them a call/email, I would certainly appreciate it. I haven't had much time to be on the lists lately, so if you have questions, please email me privately. Thanks in advance for any help!!! whole family SCD 23 mos LOD 6 months --------------------------------- Yahoo! Mail Use Photomail to share photos without annoying attachments.
