Can overmoisturizing damage the skin's epidermal protective barrier?

Good saturday morning to all

I have been keeping very detailed notes on my skin and how it looks and feels

after washing, moisturizing, etc. It seems, now this is very tentative and I'm

not getting too excited or anything, but it seems as if the moisturizers

including Dr. Sy's moisturizing oil, the vita-oil are making the flakes worse.

So yesterday and again this morning I washed with a Begoun's skin recovery

cleanser and did not use anything. Last night, I was so tempted to use something

since my face seemed to be crying out " moisturize me? But within 10 mintues

maybe even less, that feeling was gone. My skin was not hot or irritated in the

least. I had a hot cup of tea later that night and this morning when I got up I

could not see any flakes, not even when I rub very gently against my skin which

always seems to uproot a mass of the little critters.

Now I am wondering if my poor old skin has been so loaded down with oils and

creams that it just reacted with the flakes. My skin is not dry like it is rough

and scaly like on the calves of my legs in the winter time.

I washed this morning with the same cleanser and just let my face air dry. So

far so good. The clincher will come later on today when I try to add some

foundation to my face.

Is there anyone else who does not use a moisturizer?? I don't want to create

more problems by forcing my seb. glands to produce oil but isn't the oil which

we have naturally on our faces better than all the commercially available ones.

All the best for a relaxing weekend.

Regards
