My son started SCD in August. He's gained weight and likes the food.

I'm disheartened though, because selfish, controlling, inconsiderate exhusband

exposes my son to coke, jello, etc. He regresses some. He with me about 20 days

a month and with ex about 10,not consecutively. He does this out of convience,

laziness. We're going to court next month to see what can be done, but

realistically this is a character issue.

I've given him diet info, website, etc.

This is my question, do you still think it's worth it to do this diet? I do,

but ... am I just fooling myself?

I have to say that cheating will DEFINITELY prevent healing from

taking place.

Please consider starting over with the intro diet. Then slowly add

new foods, one at a time. Keep a food log.

Read the information on pecanbread.com, especially this page:

Including complex carbs in his diet makes him NOT on SCD. SCD forbids

rice, quinoa, corn, potatoes, all grains, etc.

If you aren't sure whether something is okay, check Elaine's website

to be certain.

Do you have the support of a DAN! doctor that can submit a letter to

the court stating the your child needs to be on SCD for medical reasons?

If you do, that will go a long way in helping. Going against a

doctor's recommendation would not look good in the eyes of the court.

If it's mostly for convenience (rather than spite) that he is doing

this, what about just sending your child's food for the entirety of

the time of the father's visitation?

I know it would be a real pain for you. But if you offer this when

you go to court, it would show that it IS possible for the child to

remain on the diet without inconveniencing your ex.
