Hello everyone. I've just started the process of investigating MGB.

My physician (family practice MD) and brother (orthopedic surgeon)

are both supportive of me------and I thought they would be the

toughest ones to win over! Anyway,I have been reading as much as I

can about this procedure and I am ready to make an appointment to

consult with a surgeon, but would like to talk with some people who

have gone through this.

I'm in my mid 30's, last weight (can't belive I'm admitting this

here) was this week at 277lbs. I've been overweight and struggled

with it for most of my life, but especially for the last15 years.

I've tried EVERYTHING-- you name a diet out there, and I bet I've

been on it, took phen-phen, Meridia---------too many things to list!

Anyway-----hopefully I'm not the only one out there who has this type

of story.

I'm really interested in MGB and would love to hear some comments

from those of you who have been through this surgery-----both

positive and negative. I'm a nurse, so I know that there are always

risks and negatives to any medical procedures. My biggest question

to the post-op MGB patients are " are you glad that you went through

with this? " and " would you do it again if you had to? " .

Thank you in advance for any information/comments you can send my

way. Congratulations to all of you who have " crossed over " (I think

that's what you're calling it) and I wish you all the best!
