Hi Pancreatitis Pals,

If anyone out there has diabetes, I sure could use your help right away, as I

having all lot of problems with my right Now!!!!!!!!!!! As, you know last

Monday, I had surgery to have my pain pump replaced and that has gone very Well

for me, with now problems, except that my diabetes hashas been acting up since

Saturday. Maybe the surgery has thrown my system out of wacky?

Well, I try to make a long story short and to the point. In August , my

insurance quit accept my medicine that I was using to control my diabetes.]It

was called Glucovance, and was going the job quite well. Now it a

non-formulary(SP) drug and they won't pay for it & I can't afford it outright

with all the other meds I have to take. So my family doc tried to convince me

to go on insulin, He said I would feel better and not have the HI & Lows sugar

problems that you sometimes get with pills, But I said I wanted to try another

kind of pills first. So he put me on Glucotrol 10mg. and Glucophage(SP) with

was the same make up as my glucovance the I was taking, so it should do the

trick. Well Sat. I started to get a little lightheaded and nervous feeling, I

thought I might of gone too long with out eating. So I had something to drink.

I felt better. Well, yesterday(Sunday) the bottom fell out I was so lightheaded

& Shaky that I spent most of the day in bed. I didn't get to sleep till 5am

Sunday morning, because I was so un-nerved that I couldn't sleep.

Then today more light-headiness & started the High & Lows Fasting for 14 hours

was 160 ( I know that too long to go without food and I won't do that again),

then 2 hrs after brunch it was 232 and then when I was fixing supper I started

to get very lightheaded and very shaky and sort of in a fog. Took my sugar and

it was 92 (A drop of 140 in just 3 hours time. ) So I drank some OJ and just

sat at the dinner table and finally started to quite shaking , so I could eat

dinner. Then 3 hours after dinner it 195 and before bedtime it's finally better

at 151. It's all over the place. I have heard so many stories about what normal

for a diabetic, could you please let me know what you have been told.

My family doc. I really don't care for that much, as he wishey-washey with his

DX, on my husband. I know that I need to change docs, but at least I can get

the referrals from him that I need. But that's beside the point.

Well as I sit hear writing you all tonight, I so upset by what happening, I'm

crying,( Something I haven't done in at least the last 10 months, usually I can

roll with the punches, but not this time) because I so upset and can't stand

feeling this way.

Now here the real problem, I know that I couldn't give myself the insulin

injection( Because once before I was on (Standsostatin)(SP) and had to give

myself shots in the leg for 2 weeks and I shook so bad when doing it my legs

looked like pin cushions and were badly bruised from it. My husband is so

afraid of needles that he can't ever watch any getting a shot, so he out to help

me, and my daughter who still at home could do it but she works and is rarely

home, so she couldn't help much. My doc did tell me that there is a long acting

insulin, so you don't need as many injection through out the day.

By I know I couldn't drug the shots. I did ask about an insulin pump, which I

believe I could handle, but he said that you have to be on the shots first,

before the insurance would pay for it.

I tiring to eat better, now. But it seems that I craving the sweets very badly,

which I tiring to stay away from. You know it hard to eat when your not hungry

or worse yet nauseated. This crappy CP, is for the birds, with all it

complications.

So I need and advise that you can offer soon, because I can't stand feeling this

way. I know I can always count on this group, because you all understand and

have been thought similar problems.

Tomorrow I will call my insurance and see if there is any way I can go back on

the Glucovance, which help, but I already know the answer will be--- Sure if you

are willing to pay. We do have a local HMO, but the non- formulary, comes from

the state insurance, since my husband is consider a state worker and not from

the HMO. It seems each year they are covering less & medicines. What a lady to

do?

I hope this makes a little sense to you all, but like I said I'm in a fog and

can't think straight. Please excuse all the mistakes, as I not myself tonight.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!! If anyone was on pills and

then went to insulin does it really help allot. Thanks for you time & Help!

Sorry this has turned out to be so long.

Take Care,

Louie in WV
