Guest guest
Hi Jo, At what age was your son diagnosed? Josh's CF is what I would consider mild also. The year he was diagnosed we were introduced to a family with a son the same age as him. This child was diagnosed at birth. We have kept in touch and see them on and off in the hospital. While Josh is now 14, 135 lbs and 5 " 6 this child is at least a head shorter than Josh and has to struggle to keep every pound on. The last I heard he was on the list for a double lung tx. Josh also didn't need enzymes until last year. I still wonder if he actually needs them, because thats one of the med's he never remembers to take, and his weight speaks for itself. This is one of those times that you realize, yes, my son is sick. But you look around at how others have it so much worse. You count your blessings and pray for the other families and what they endure. P.S I've caught Josh sleeping several times sitting up with his vest on. I guess a teen can sleep through anything!! Guest guest
Cody was diagnosed at age 7. His sweat test is always in the gray zone and only the one delta gene has been identified. He's had a couple polyp surgeries, grows pseudomonas on occasion, and some lung deficiency so they call him CF. They have also added asthma to his list which sounds common. He use to drink protein drinks in his lunch at school until his weight came up to par, now he weighs 100 pounds but he's a bit on the short side (58 " ). He also has braces so sometimes he doesn't feel like eating. The typical junk food teenager. Sounds like your Josh is a good size and doing well. I'm off to work so have a good day.
