Guest guest
I know I enjoy reading the posts of others and I always try to ask questions and share our recent successes. So, here goes: Kali did everything the other kids did with redirection sometimes in church today AND gave her quarter to the offering INDEPENDENTLY after the other children did. What a blessing!! When she first started going to this Sunday school class 4 months ago, all she did was run laps around everyone else! I took my time out of chuch a few weeks ago to be her one-on-one aide and really had to do the 3-step through everything. She was very combative then and screamed loudly. Non-compliance was what she was about. She is so good for me now. She also had a recent memory skill progression. Today, I had to take her into a WalMart to get some cleaning stuff for a job and we held hands until we got in there and then she walked beside me for the rest of the way to the right isle. I got it and she grabbed my hand and dragged me right directly to the " zoopals " paper plates & bowls. She said " zoopals " and looked at me. I wanted to faint. She has seen the commercial for them on tv though. I said, " yes we can get the zoopals. Good girl telling me you want the zoopals bowls. " I am still amazed as I have no words to express how I am feeling:). TEARS. Isn't it ironic that when she finally becomes verbal, I have no words at all! I knew this was die-off because of her recent bowel color, amt. & behavior changes, along with those dry cracked lips. Wishing you all the best of healing- Jenn & Kali (5yrs.old, Autism) 10 months SCD
