Guest guest
Hi Sheila...thanks so much for your reply. I have some exciting news since my last post. Lucas began to refuse to drink the coconut milk a few days ago. He has done this many times in the past as well with the brown rice milk and any fluid. His thirst mechanism may still be affected from his surgery. (He may also probably be trying to tell us that the milks are bothering his stomache) This makes it very challenging for us - Lucas becomes irritable and more aggressive due to the increase in his sodium levels/dehydration. I took advantage of this though and I stopped the coconut milk altogether! We've been giving Lucas the Santa Cruz Organic White Grape Juice diluted with lot's of water. The ingred. are filtered water, organic conc. white grape juice - is this legal? (I'm not crazy about juice, but he needs to drink something) We have to force him at times which is very difficult for all of us, but I feel so much better that he is not drinking milk. So although we've been doing SCD since January, we're now really doing SCD! I consider Lucas on SCD for 3 days now! I will try the bananas and water as well. Thanks. Lucas has been having almond flour this whole time. I feel that he was or has become sensitive to this. I just made some pecan butter bread but he is refusing to eat it. He is eating almond/pecan flour zucchini muffins, raw apples and pears, raw carrots, banana pancakes, almond pancakes, carrot bread, turkey/chicken burgers with salt and veggies. He was much more picky before SCD, but is a bit better now. I know the raw friuts and veggies are not the best right now, but it's so hard to get Lucas to eat anything else. I know he is so hungry and I feel awful when he is not being satisfied. As for the epsom salt baths, we've been wanting to do this but wondering if this could dehydrate Lucas at all/affect his sodium levels. He does take APO-DESMOPRESSIN spray 1xday to help his body retain water. The ingred. listed are desmopressin acetate in a buffered, isotonic, aqueous solution containig .01 % benzalkonium chloride as a preservative. Is this legal? We continue to pray that Lucas' ADH (anti-diurrhetic hormone) will kick in fully, but in the meantime if we do not give him his medicine, he will urinate everything out and dehydrate. We are not using any applesauce at this time, but I was hoping Lucas would eat some homemade pear sauce instead. I would love to start on yogurt, but I think we are going to hold off for a few months at least. In the meantime, I will check out the supplements list and get Lucas started. As for foods, I am going to slowly start to introduce new foods and hope that Lucas will eat them. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your support and advice.
