Guest guest
Heidi, No, I've never been prescribed enzymes. My GI is insistent that my pancreas is perfectly healthy and not at the root of the problem. He says the problem is that I have adhesions that are blocking the flow of the bile duct. Sometimes they cause only intense pain and nausea, other times they block things to the point of irritating the liver, other times they block things to the point of irritating the liver and pancreas - thus acute panc attacks. He insists that even though the pancreas has been attacked it has sustained no permanent damage thus far. I am to see the surgeon he's referred me to on Dec 4th. I suppose once the surgeon gets in there, we'll know for sure if my GI is correct. Technically, I've only had 4 documented cases of acute panc. One back in Jan 2000 and then 3 since mid july of this year. All the other episodes involved only elevated liver enzymes (ranging from mildly elevated to 20+ times normal) or total normal labs.
