Stapler = Dr. Rutledge

Stapleee = Flo

Staple Remover = Dr. Rutledge

Just my two cents here, for what it's worth (you get what you pay for). I

had a pretty good situation in that my sister lives in Raleigh. I didn't

have to pay for a hotel and heaven knows it sure didn't cost much to feed me

broth. And I know lots of you don't have that kind of situation in the

Durham area. But if you do, or if you can swing a few extra bucks, you

might want to consider staying in the Durham area more than a day or two

after surgery.

I keep reading posts about folks getting on a plane and going home. I keep

reading posts about folks going this alone. It makes me tighten my tummy

just thinking about it. This is major surgery we just had....even though we

do so well and it doesn't feel like it.

For those of you who are pre-op, if it's possible, stick around a

little...maybe even to get your staples out...because if something does

happen and you have a problem and you have to go to an emergency room or

your own doc...well...they might not quite know what to do for you. And if

there is any way at all...any way...that you can have someone with you...you

must! This is not something you should do alone! You need someone to go get

your prescriptions for you and you need someone to check on you and to just

look in on you. If you don't have anyone..please send a message to the list

and maybe, just maybe someone on the list, in the area, would check on you

twice a day by phone if nothing else.

I know many of you are doing this on a shoestring. And I know many of you

have little ones and that care for them is a huge problem...but if it's

possible at all, please do consider staying in the Durham area. And please

do consider NOT doing this alone.
