Tamara,

NOPE...he does not NEED to know. My hubby is slim. He looks awesome and could

be a male model. He has no idea how much I weigh. I just don't see how he

could benefit by knowing my starting weight. I am contemplating telling him

once I reach goal weight. But, I may not tell him even then. (My weight is

still a great source of embarrassment to me.) So, it's up to you. Do you feel

comfortable telling him?

Terri,

He was very supportive, but he still maintains I could have done it without

the surgery. I told him he's right, but I couldn't keep it off. He's seen me

lose hundreds of pounds only to regain them. So, he's glad I did it. He saw

me suffering from a poor body image and I would hardly leave the house. Now,

I am back to my old fun self.

Well, My husband went to the doc with me 4 weeks before surgery and the nurse

said so you are 225 right I looked at my husband and he said no way. Gee I

had already lost 17 pounds. He was is shock, but when I hit 199 he thought

Flo,

I agree with you and everyone else. There is a line and weight is the

deciding factor.

BTW congratulations on the weight loss.

le,

I read your post to Tamara and I'm glad to see that someone else keeps

their weight from their husband. It kills my husband when I won't tell him

how much I weigh but I truly see no benefit from it. My husband is also

thin and comes from family of thins ones. I know even in his old age he

will not experience the " middle spread " . Was your husband supportive of

your surgery? My husband seems to think surgery just isn't but I see it as

my only hope.

,

Girl, I have been in the gym trying to get my aerobic instructor's body. Plus

I was playing step mammy this month...so glad that is over with until

Christmas. Anyway, I am not very far away. I am off to get my nail and toes

spruced up.

I too would never ever ever tell my husband or anyone but you guys my true

weight! Let

them guess...it's good exercise for their minds. And...it's nobody's business

either!

My husband and I have been together between dating and marriage for 40 years. We

have

shared a lot. But there's a line....and my weight is definately on my side of

the line!

I think by telling my weight helped him understand

what the reality of my obesity/life was/is all about.

He could not belive I weighed that much...... He is

thrilled and seems to be happy I have had the surgery.

But from the start he wanted me to do more on my own.

See we have not been together that long so he really didnt

comprehend the big picture of weight gain throughout the

years.

I m not obsessed with the numbers any more. I know, understand,

and see the results to what is happening to my new body/life.

This is a life long process and Lord knows we've all been there

and back. But, for some reason, I m dealing better with other

" things in my life " , because I have time for them. I m not

constantly worring where my next meal is coming from.

I could give a flip about food now. It turns me off so

bad, but I eat because I m hungry...hmmmm thats a first.

I m not enjoying the food fix I use to .

My excitement for today was,

I truly enjoyed a diet snapple that quenched my thirst

(I was able to guzzle 6 big sips at a time). So much for

progress! As to my favorite food, well I have to say what

worked yesterday doesnt work for today , I dont

understand this but I m still learning.

To all who are coming up to the plate next week my

heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with you. And perhaps

July 26th I will meet some of you!

Looking for you on the other side......

Dear Flo,

I feel exactly what you mean about husbands not knowing our true

weight. Let 'em guess. A couple of months ago, my husband was

making a derogatory comment about my weight. He said 'What are you

about 250 " All I could do is look at him really funny and smile

inside to myself as I thought... " Oh boy, is he WAY off " . Isn't it

awful when 250 seems like a small number?
