Hi Dr. R:

Good to see you today at the clinic.

I have one comment about your paper. From a research standpoint, people may

want to know the n's (the numbers in the groups) for your graph on weight loss

at 1, 3, etc months. It is sort of misleading when you say 643 people have

undergone the MGB (some may believe you have that many at 1-year post-op), and

then the n's are not reported for each point on the graph. Obviously, since

your volume has gotten so much greater lately, there are many people in your

overall N who do not average in at the 3, 6, and 12 month post-op time. To ward

off any criticism, you may want to go ahead and report the n's for each post-op

period. This is probably how a chart would read in an academic journal.

Other than that, I thought the paper was well-written, to-the-point, and very

informative. If you REALLY want some constructive criticism, I can have my

boyfriend read and critique it for you (just let me know). You will recall that

he is a health psychologist at Duke Medical Center and ALL he does is research.

He is constantly writing grants for funding and reviewing peer papers for

journal publication. So, he is VERY good at it. I'm sure he'll be glad to do

it -- but I warn you that he would be thorough! But, he can also pick up things

that people (especially research-minded ones) at he conference might -- and

you'd be ready!

BTW, he helped me find a good QOL (quality of life) measure for Ruth. Please

tell her I'll be getting in touch with her soon!

Best of luck at your conference. I will be thinking of you and sending you

" good vibes. "

Dr. J ;-)
