Hi-New to this group, but not new to pancreatitis. I'm a 58 y/o

female nurse with history of gallstone pancreatitis in 1985;

gallbladder removal in 1992 and most recent episode of pancreatitis

occuring in June 2002 with hospitalization. Have been taking Viokase

enzyme pills since June with excellent results. Until now. Nausea

is beginning to ruin my life. No amount of Viokase helps and the

g.i. docs at NYU have increased the dose to 3 q.i.d. - 12 a day! I

am nauseated only in the a.m. and it's difficult to both get to work

and stay there being so sick. I also have IBS-D and take medications

for that, too. IBS-D and I have been friends for more than 30 years

and with Lotronex, is mostly under control. Also, special diets

minus all fresh fruits and veggies help the IBS-D. I am allowed NO

fiber at all. Does anyone else here have this awful nausea in the

a.m.? New Rx given me for the nausea is Zofran. This is a drug

widely used in chemotherapy patients and it works like magic, but I

don't want to spend the rest of my life taking it. I've had numerous

colonoscopies (negative) and EGD's (negative as well). CT scan two

wks ago showed what I already knew: chronic pancreatitis with

numerous areas of severe calcification(s). Drs. have absolutely

nothing to help me beyond the above. I'm losing weight like crazy

and I am already 10 lbs. underweight. I am getting more and more

depressed about this situation and don't know where else to turn.

I've got a team of g.i. doctors and their credentials are among the

best I could find, so 2nd and 3rd opinions don't seem to be the

answer. HELP!! I might feel better if I knew others were undergoing

the same.

Diane
