Well, I just looked on the internet and Dr. Mertz is a

gastroenterologist. I called his office at Vandy and the lady said I was

correct that he would not be able to get to my pancreas via ERCP because of the

gastric bypass. She said I needed to have my doctor change the referral to a

surgeon. I heard the nurse make the appt. She called Vandy and told them they

wanted to refer me to a liver surgeon. Anyway, I've found the phone number for

the Vanderbilt University Division of Hepatobiliary Surgery and the point of

contact. I will call the local surgeon's office tomorrow and ask them to

change the referral. If anyone knows anything about the VUMC Hepatobiliary

surgeons, let me know.
