Adam: Stress is the number one trigger for many of us, yet we do not

talk much about how to reduce stress. When you are facing finals the

sympathetic portion of your autonomic nervous system (the one you

cant control) steps up it's action and releases stress hormones into

your blood. These hormones cause dilation of blood vessels and you

get flares. Dont laugh, I was very skeptical of this, but when I

have tests or a stressfull period I meditate regularly. Meditation

is clinically proven (read book - relaxation response) to activate

the PARAsympathetic nervous system, which de-activates the

sympathetic nervous system.

Meditation is easy. You just sit up an a comfy chair/couch in a

quiet room. Close eyes and either concentrate on your breating or

repeat a word in your mind to yourself as you breathe out. It can be

anything - even a short phrase - even just the word RELAX, or a

nonsense word like Ieeenga. Just concentrate on that word or just

your breathing and dont think about anything else. If you start to

think about things just let the thought pass by. this is having a

passive attitude. Within a few minutes you will notice your

breathing will become shallow and you will kinda feel like you are

floating. Keep in this state for about 10 or 15 minutes. Read more

on meditation and benefits. It's very interesting and it does help.

I was originally very skeptical but it really does help me. I did it

before a test yesterd and did not flare at all while taking it and

felt very calm.

Good luck! Patty

> Two nights ago I was thinking of posting a message letting you all

know how well I thought Photoderm was working for me, and

recommending any people considering it should give it a try. My skin

looked great except for this little rash of red bumps around my mouth

that had recently appeared. I rarely flushed, barely looked red, and

even the swelling had gone down! My skin had looked consistantly

good for almost 2 weeks too, it wasnt even one of those 1 or 2 days

of goodluck... I was even thinking of strollin' down to where an ex-

g/f of mine works so she could see how good I looked. (I try not to

be shallow when I can help it, but she broke up with me a while back

when I first developed cea, cuz she didn't find me attractive

enough anymore - Ya, thats what she said)

> Now the redness is back full force! The flushing is back and then

some.. The rash of little red bumps around my mouth has become

Horribly noticable! I have a similar rash on my forehead and around

my hairline too!(temples, sideburns, nothing on the back of my neck

or anything). The Swelling is back 110% as well. And I can't even

sleep it off or anything because I am swamped with HW and finals for

the next two days.
