This is a procedure where they bypass your large intestine and from

then on it becomes useless, and everything that you take in goes

through the small intestine. A lot of people these days are having

this done to lose weight, but it is primarily used in patients who

have duodenal ulcers and cannot find any relief through any means.

The problem lies in the fact that all of your nutrients and calories

are absorbed through use of the large intestine, so when they bypass

it, you begin to lose all of the benefits of it. This procedure

cannot be reversed and is not recommended for any reason.

My wife had this done before we found her current gastroenterologist

who is dead set against this procedure. The problem is, since it is

irreversible, she cannot gain any weight, is down to less than 100

pounds and staring a pancreatectomy in the face; with a two week

hospital stay that will probably take 20 more pounds off of her,

which makes recovery even more difficult.

adios!
