Guest guest
Hi Adam, I only have experience with Protopic--sorry if this is a repeat, i was given it when nothing else was working for very mild rosacea on cheeks, just redness, not pimples, no pain...this I believe was a very bad call by my doctor...While on the Protopic my face started to hurt incredibly, INCREDIBLY, I thought the rosacea was getting worse, well it turned out to be this incredibly strong medicine. Also I noticed, that when using it, after showere, my face would light up like it never had before. It left me feeling raw and tender. So I stopped it right away. From what I understand it is a potent anti-inflammator but mainly indicated for exzema--this is very different from rosacea no? Elidel (or Ascomycin) is what Dr. Nase mentions in the books, very much supports from what I remember. Others here have used it with mixed results, do a search and I am sure you will find a # of relevant posts. Also, a few weeks ago I posted an article on Pimecromlus and new discoveries that it prevents flares--did you read it? Does any one know about it, or have had experience with it? I realize they both come from the same class of medications, Protopic is usually more effective, and Elidel is usually less irritating.. Basically what I don't know, is Protopic caused EXTREME irritation and flushing for me... I only used it for five days, and over a month and a half later, I still flush much worse in the areas that I applied it than I used to. I can tell for sure by comparing these areas to the skin on the rest of my face, because I only applied it to certain test areas, not to my entire face..) It also caused what almost looked like an allergic rash on my upper lip (Which only took about two days after discontinuing to go away). After all this, Unfortunately I'm still left with the Seb Derm on my lip, and am wondering if Elidel is something worth trying, or if it would be likely to cause reactions similar to the Protopic.
