Dear Gang,

I know that 6 to 8 feet are generally bypassed with the MGB

surg. Does anyone know what happens to the bypassed organs? Do they

atropy, or become cancerous since there is no more peristalsis taking

place?

Thank you !

=)

I posed a similar question to Dr. R. He said that we could get a

reversal 10 years from now if need be. I asked him if everything

would still be availible and working and he said yes. So I assume

that all internal organs stay in working order.

Someone out there correct me if I am wrong.

I had also asked a similar question and was told that the bypassed

stomach and small intestine stay healthy (they still have blood

supply) and there is some psuedo-parastalic activity that prevents

the bypassed intestine from atrophy or cancerous growths. Take care,
