Guest guest
Well, I made it to my appt Wed. at MUSC. My FP doc had called and wanted me seen ASAP, since I was in so much pain when I saw him on Monday. He had me stop the Durgasesic patches and go to oxycotin. He offered to admit me but I told him I thought I could handle things at home--better. At least there I knew I would get my pain meds on time. SO off I went to ton Wed. I didn't have anyone to take me so I had to stop me pain meds Tuesday night so I could drive Wed. Tuesday I come home from my nieces band concert and find my dog has injured his right hind leg and can not put any weight on it, so off to the animal ER with him. 290.00 later they didn't have any answers for us except they gave him a pain shot, took x-rays (which were negative for a fracture) and sent us on our way. I ended upi finally making it to bed around 1:30am. I had to be in ton by 10:00am and its a 3 hr drive. That coupled with no pain meds made for an interesting trip down...Plus I had to stop 3 times to vomit. I finally made it and offered to admit me, no I just need something done about pain meds. What to take, how often, how much. Duragesic is breaking my skin out and causing me to itch all over. So wrote me a prescription for Actiq-- fentanyl on a stick.AKA fentanyl lollipops.I went down to the pharmacy to have it filled. the 15 min wait turned into an hour. In the meantime I was starting to really hurt, to the point of getting lightheaded and feeling faint. SO after I got my script I walked back to the clinic. They admitted me for 24 hrs to give me fluids and get my pain under control.I was discharged this morning. I feel much better since getting the fluids. It was a tough drive hoe=me. they had to discontinue the pain meds early this am so I could make it home. As soon as I got within 10 mns of my house I started on the first lollipop. It takes about 15 mins to start feeling any effects and 30 before full effects. so far, so good, I still have some itching but nothing like with the patch. I will up date more later. I'm off to take my dog to the vet. -SC
