Hi Jody,

Elaine knew that not everyone would be able to tolerate

I cannot speak for (although she probably meant customizing

the foods within the context of SCD), but I wanted to clarify that

all my " fish postings " were certainly referring to the customization

you are defining.

While I am being accused of integrating conflicting diets, I have

never suggested anything outside of the SCD perimeters. Eating fish

is not required to do SCD. Just like eating apples or kiwi are not

required for individuals who have latex allergies. I don't think we

would venture to say that latex allergy individuals do not follow SCD

solely based on the fact that these foods are eliminated. If they

are eating within the framework of SCD but also eliminating these

foods that pose a problem for them, SCD has not been modified at this

point. It has simply been tailored or more restricted to suit an

individual's specific need.

My point is that some of us may need to avoid fish if we want to

eliminate the possibility of mercury exposure through this source

unless we make a specific effort to investigate the toxicity level of

the particular fish we are eating such as stated she does. I

don't feel that this is cause for accusations of tampering with SCD

or attacking Elaine's legacy (and I am in no way implying that you,

Jody, are making these accusations).

It is a shame that some quotes about the condition of fish in the

world was used to make those of us who do not currently consume fish

feel as if we are not " purists. "

One of the basic principles I have learned from all of you is that if

you can't be completely confident that what you are consuming is safe

and/or legal, then don't consume it. What I have been saying

completely lines up with this idea. We all have to be responsible

for our own family's diets. Therefore, I think that all of the

cautions, guidance, and instructions on how to better navigate the

fish market has been a asset to those of us with ASD kids who are

trying to find healing for our children within the perimeters of SCD.

Thank you for allowing me to make this clarification.
