Guest guest
Unless he has a contract with the hospital or is on salary there or some other monetary agreement........he is NOT an employee of theirs or works FOR them........He has priviledges there. They work TOGETHER........many hospital boards(all I know of) have physicans on their governing boards. Of course if there is not another hospital in the area they are kinda STUCK unless they want to Move......Not an easy thing to do. Hospitals unfortunately are forced to make decisions based on the funding they receive from contracts with the goverment(IE medicare,Medicaid,Occupation rehab and the like). If they dont comply they can be in serious legal and financial troubles. The aged population is the fasted growing consumer of health care so it is a GIVEN medicare is controlling much of the actions hospitals are forced to take. It is no secret Durham Regional has or was bordering on financial concerns when they were leased by Duke was it 2 years ago? Wasn't it a public hospital before then? Many public hospitals (that take a ton of charity) have been forced to go to for profit. I don't know if this is the case for Durham. All I care about is IF the care is still good. From what I have heard........only one nasty nurse in all the posts. NOw that says something. Everyone seems satisfied except the one post I mentioned above. Outcomes of patients are great indicators of how well the hospital is faring. If they can run it efficiently and keep the doors open by having patients keep coming back BECAUSE it was a safe environment that means more than French food( Yes some hospitals serve it in the US) or fancy rooms. Doctors work for PATIENTS. Hospitals are there to serve patients by allowing drs priviledges to work there. These are not easy to get nor keep. I seriously doubt that DR R works FOR them.
