Date: Sat Sep 7, 2002 2:38pm >>> I had my pancreas removed on July 22nd. The islet cell transplant didn't work.. But it is good to be alive and to be home. Lots of Love and Hugs, Tammy - TN<<<< Tammy, you are a remarkable and inspirational person. Gail W. called me to let me know what had happened since I am not always able to keep up to date with the board. I am so very sorry. When I read everything that happened, I was struck in awe with your ability to stay focused on the positive, the love and prayers of family and friends. I remember how scared you were before surgery of this exact thing. You were so brave and knew it was what you had to do. That takes so much courage. I. also, acknowledge your pain, disappointment, and frustration. It takes a lot of courage to handle everything the way you did. This is a reminder that this disease is serious and life threatening. It is a reminder, along with 9-11, of how precious the people in our lives are. I am really affected by what you had to go through. And, I am really moved by your spirit. We are all here for you, Tammy. I will make sure Diane, TN State Rep., knows you are home. I know you're family is relieved to have you home, too. Love, Karyn , RN Founder / Exec.
