Guest guest
Hi! My name is Jenn. I'm in Vancouver, Washington, and this is my first post... I intended to lurk a while, but I couldn't help putting in my experience relating to this matter. Intro to come soon! *chuckle* <<< >> I have found that when healthcare funding from federal sources are drastically cut as they are being now, nationaly, all of the above suffer dramaticaly. #2 is compromised to cut costs, this results in us, the caregivers, becoming overworked and frustrated at the quality of care we are forced to provide by management, and naturally... this causes #3 to drastically suffer. It's a horrible game, of " topple the dominoes. " When I was able to work, I was a Respiratory therapist for 12 years, I saw this trend repeated at every hospital I worked in. The most recent example being my previous employer had their federal contributions cut by 25 MILLION over 3 years. ouch! It isn't right. The, " bean counters, " decide where services " need " to be cut... and that never makes for good medicine. Very disappointed at hospital beancounters everywhere.... Guest guest
Jenn, good points The last hospital I worked at had TONS of bean counters For example...........3 Chief Operating Officers All with different fancy titles That was one for every 10(yes you are reading right) 10 INpatients. yes I know outpatient numbers have risen dramatically.....FORCED by our health care system because you have to really be TERRIBLY ILL (IE intensive care) or go there just for surgery. I counted over 40 Supervisors each with their own heirarchy of people under them...... More Chiefs and not enough Indians. I am wondering WHEN the public is going to speak up and make BEAN COUNTERS accountable for their 6 figure plus salaries? The year they laid dozens of employees off the week of Christmas they remodeled a place in the basement and slipped in another bean counter complete with the prettiest clerical worker in the hospital they stole from the nursing unit she was NEEDED on. Of course she applied for the job to be this guys GAL FRIDAY. Who could blame her.single mother and trying to better herself. It was not common knowledge that they were doing that. THe next week they started ripping out the carpet and redecorating the entire building. Today they have gobbled up all the properties around them and even went to the city council to try to take over the street that NOW runs through their properties. They have enough money to put in PARKIING GARAGES for a 30 bed hospital..............isn't that sweet? Meanwhile I have never seen a person on medicaid EVER get Cardiac REhabilitation while I worked in that department. Sad isn't it? All in the name of MONEY.
