Guest guest
Yes! I'm so glad that you brought that up. I was thinking of anti-inflammatories when I mentioned the Krill Oil. I heard Dr. Bradstreet (famous doctor for autistic patients) talk at Autism One in May, 2005, and I have a copy of that talk on audiotape. He just raved about Krill Oil, and mentioned that preliminary studies showed that it has much greater anti-inflammatory properties than other fish oils. I have a bottle here but unfortunately don't have the box anymore. The box had a graph on how Krill Oil compared to other anti-inflammatories and it did look impressive. I don't know how SuperEPA compares but both are marine lipids. Carolyn SCD - 13 days >Hi Tom, >I dragged him to a nutritionally minded MD in NY who >recommended marine lipids. Guest guest
Gladioli, Our daughter has UC, but the fish oils her dr. always want her to take (Metagenics) always seem to cause more D. What brand did/does your husband take? Rhonda | I am new to SCD and know more about UC than CD, but thought the | following might help. My husband has had UC since 88 and was | | formation due to constant inflammation? I've no idea if EPA would | be helpful to you or not, but it would certainly be worth a try and | very inexpensive. Perhaps you already take marines, but I did not | want to assume so. | | All the Best, | Gladioli-IBS 25years, Husband UC 18years SCD 1month |
Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, Keep in mind these are just my opinions based on what different health care practitioners have said to me over the last 25 yeaars. My husband uses SuperEPA, which is a trademarked product. We purchase ours from Allergy Research Group/Nutricology. This product contains double the amount of EPA and DHA compared to most marine lipids. If your child is having diarrhea from Metagenics product, this may not be any better. Here's where my opinion part comes in. I, at one time, was a patient of Dr. Leo Galland who is mentioned in the foreward of Dr. Gottschall's book. He told me that in looking at his patient population, 15% are deficient in omega 6 fatty acids and 85% are deficient in omega 3 (marine is omega 3). Fish oil is immensely helpful to my husband, but makes me absolutely miserable. I fall into that 15% category and cannot function without my evening primrose oil (omega 6). If you really feel your daughter is fatty acid deficient you might want to take a look at Dr. Galland's book " SupperImmunity for Kids " which will give you some suggestions on how to figure out which if any fatty acids your child is deficient in. If this does not appeal to you, you might want to consider asking your daughters doc to do an Essential and Metabolic Fatty Acid Analysis (RBC) at Great Smokies Lab. That's more info. than you asked for, but perhaps it will be helpful.
