Guest guest
Here is story on ETS from CBS site ... may have triggered follow-on story to be aired on 48 Hours: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/02/27/health/main502370.shtml Concerning difference between flushing and blushing, my take is that blushing refers to spontaneous response to social situation, such as public speaking, etc, and is often treated by inderal and xanax. Flushing, on other hand, is perhaps more immediately related to rosacea, and includes usual rosacea triggers such as sun, heat, foods, etc, in addition to social blushing. If you turn red in front of a computer monitor, or as a result of intense mental concentration, then I would say this is flushing, but I have not seen a rigorous definition. Under this guidance, I personally am a flusher, not a blusher: I turn red working intensely by myself, but have relatively few symptoms while giving talks, unless I need to focus really closely on some details during the talk. From what little I have read, ETS is generally considered to be more effective for blushing than flushing. I would welcome further input from those who have either done ETS or spoken to a physician about it. Rick
