When Elaine was alive there were some illegals at DW and at times she lost patience and threatened to disavow the entire line as they would remove stugf and then put it back on the site. It was pointed out repeatedly by our founder that since the Kosher foods were a great boon to the Kosher community it would be helpful to guide DW to compliance, especially as they were willing to take direction. Esther has made every effort to accomodate to our protocols. That is different from " declaring " things legal that we did not. My opinion is that DW is doing everything possible to comply and make sure their products are SCD legal. Here in Toronto, I can visit a food processor, discuss our requirements and request a personal letter testifying to ingredents etc. With DW, I can only email and phone and they have a fairly extensive line. Take the DW Marinara Sauce. I use a 48 oz. can of an approved organic tomato juice and simmer it down, add a few things and end up with something much more cost efficient than one little jar from DW, but that's just me and I have time to cook and no human kids in the house. I know you all want ready made food, but personally I find it to costly to pay shipping charges and duty to Canada which is why I don't bother. Here in Toronto, we on SCD are blessed with all the necessary foods for SCD. That is why I say Jody and Sheila are better qualified to make a final determination as to whether there is anything either unsuitable or only for the advanced. I welcome their personal comments on homemade versus store bought. It is also better that only one person deal with them. Carol F. Carol F.
