Guest guest
I experienced the scariest flush of my life this morning. (I have mild/semi-mild rosacea that reacts to certain foods and chemicals including glycerin). I have had flushes before but never like this. I made homefries and thought I'd use up some old bbq sauce that I had in the fridge. Well, obviously I bought that sauce before I started reading info from this group and noticing my personal food triggers last Sept. (The ingedient list would make Suzi shudder - it certainly makes me shudder now!). Before I could even wash my dishes, I felt my face start to burn as if I'd opened a hot oven and looked too closely inside. I wasn't sure what was happening. I checked in the mirror and my face was like a lobster. And getting worse quickly. I considered going to the ER! I was seriously scared. The burning was intense and I could actually feel it getting hotter and spreading. So, I summoned all the info that I have picked up from this group (when we focus on content not style...). I tried washing my face with cold water, but that wasn't cold enough. So I grabbed a bag of frozen veggies (soybeans) and applied that, while downing cold water as fast as I could. Then I felt it spreading to my shoulders and sure enough, the good ol' mirror showed me that even my neck was red! I remembered all the discussion about anti-histamines, so went for that next with more cold water (I'm now freezing). My eyes started burning (don't know if that was imminent tears or ocular...but will get checked for ocular when I'm back to coverage), so for lack of anything better to do, I also took the darn flax seed pills that I constantly forget to take - guess I was figuring that if this flush ever stopped my cells would need help in recovery, at least belatedly. It did take a while. But I sat it out, with faith that I was doing all the right things from having read everyone else's experiences and advice. Now I'm almost back to my normal red - whew. And while waiting, I caught up on weeks of posts! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. Really, thank YOU. sa P.S. Looking back on all my readings of this group's prolific posts, I don't always know which will apply to me or give me beneficial info. My past reading of posts on this kind of flushing, when I had never experienced that before, was previously irrelevant to me. Today, I had the most important tools I could have at my disposal because so many people write freely even if they don't know how helpful or well received the info will be. I appreciate that (even though it does take alot of time to keep up). Thanks again. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
