Hi,

I have been lurking on this list for over a year gleaning as much help/info

as I could get. My family physician diagnosed me with rosacea and gave me

Metrocream to use. After 2 months the decrease in redness was significant

and now after over a year of using it I rarely even flush anymore. I still

had some bumps that came and went (some would come while others would go--so

I always had some bumps) that were never affected by the Metrocream. I saw

a Derm. and he gave me Tetracycline which made my flushing returned, I got

an increase in bumps! I also had sever constipation with with (that nothing

could help except to stop the medication). He then gave me Doxycycline. My

husband, who is a pharmacist, thought this wasn't a great choice (since it

is in the same family of drugs as Tetracycline and will usually give the

same symptoms) but I tried it anyway. I had the same symptoms with it as I

did with Tetracycline---flushing, increase in bumps a little less sever

constipation (I took lots of Docusate Sodium to help counter it). I made

myself take the whole round just to see if it was getting worse so that it

would get better. But it remained the same (worse than when first

diagnosed). I also at that time began using Neutragena Sunscreen for

Sensitive Skin that the Derm gave me.

Well, insurance changed in January, so I had to start all over with new

doctors. My new family physician had me try Erythromycin topical. It has a

great deal of alcohol in it but I tried it anyway. I didn't hurt my face

but it didn't help the bumps. So I quit using it.

The other day I stopped in a drug store in a larger town (we live very

rural) and just on a whim decided to look at the make up they had. I saw

that Almay (that I read was really a good choice of make up for derm.

sufferers) had a makeup with SPF 15 sunscreen for UVA/UVB. I decided to try

it as the makeup I use from Avon only has SPF 6 or 10. I know that my face

hates " to be touched so if I could decrease one step in getting ready it

would help me (not having to put sunscreen on and then makeup too). I

decided to try it.

In less than 48 hours my bumps (that I have had for over a year!) are all

gone! I have been using it now for over two weeks and have been bump and

relatively red free (I've always have a nice overly healthy red glow to my

cheeks). I am so excited that one small change could make such a huge

difference.

Thanks for listening and allowing me to share.

I've learned so much from all of you.
