Guest guest
Well..... 's test results came back negative for CF. The Buccal Smear showed no mutations at all (not even one) for CF. This is WONDERFUL news. But I am still on my guard... how accurate do you think this test is? I've heard a negative result is ambiguous, but the lady from the CF center assures me he probably doesnt have it. Especially with him not even showing ONE mutation. I think she said it tested for 90 different mutations. She said with us being Northern European descendants, he is 90% sure NOT to have it. Do you think that is right??? My concern now is::: what is causing his malaborption? He had tests run that showed fat in his stools. Also he had a trypsin test that came back with elevated levels. He had already been tested for allergies to milk and soy and these also came back negative. His GI doctor said she doesnt put much credit in the allergy tests, and if Josh's reflux doesnt seem to get any better soon, she will look into changing his formula. The CF center nurse said she recommends we still have the sweat test done when he is older (old enough to produce some sweat), he is 11 weeks now. In other news. He has had this annoying little cough for the past 4 weeks now that sometimes wakes him up at night, and that seems worse at night than during the day. It has progressively been getting worse. Sometimes making him gag. I took him to the doctor Tues, cause I swear I can feel rattling in his chest when I hold him, and I can hear him wheeezing. Also his nose has been more stuffy and sneezy these past couple of days. Dr. said his chest sounded clear and to keep doing saline drops and bulb suctions. n - the newcomer and hopefully, possibly the short-timer proud momma to 3 beautiful daughters and one young prince!
