psych evaluation - need assistance

My insurance requires a psych evaluation but I'm having a problem

finding someone who will do the job. Either they've never heard of

providing a presurgical mental fitness evaluation, or they are

telling me I need 3-6 sessions regarding eating disorders!

My family practice physician, who has treated me for obesity for 10

years and for depression for the past 3, has graciously provided me

with a letter indicating I'm psychologically and medically fit to

undergo surgery. Seems like someone who's been seeing me for years

would be able to better assess my mental health, but no, the

insurance requires I go to a complete stranger for this.

I've got my patient package in and I'm trying to get scheduled. This

psych 'thing' is the only insurance hang-up. I live in the Raleigh

area -- so if you're from this area and you know of someone I can see

for this -- please pass on the name and phone number!!!

So -- if anyone has ANY other suggestions or recommendations, please

let me know.
