Guest guest
I am new to this group and wanted to share my experiences with treating my rosacea with photoderm so far. I'm a 28 year female with a mild case of rosacea which was diagnosed by a dermatologist in Manhattan a year ago, whose of treatment was a prescption of Metrolotion which didn't do anything for me and Retin A for my large pores, which I didn't use because I was fortunate enough to have purchase and read Dr. Nase's book soon after being diagnosed. I say a mild case of rosacea, but it really bothers me cosmetically as it is really noticeable to me because I am extremely fair skinned and before this developed, I had the nicest skin. I also think I may have brought this on myself by using AHA products for the last 6 years and nobody else in my family seems to have it. Now where the redness of the rosacea is on my cheeks, nose and temples, the pores are large, the skin is dry and flaky and does not look good. I flush occasionally to hot rooms, cold windy weather and alcohol. Anyhow, after changing my skin care regimen to include just Oil of olay foaming face wash for sensitive skin, Sy's Zinco and Tolerin Moisturizer 5 months ago, trying Noritate and not seeing any improvement, I decided to try the photoderm treatments with a dermatologist trained by Dr Bitter in October. I began to worry after my third treatment when I saw absolutely no results, because I was told improvement usually begins after the third. So I went back for the fourth, hoping that maybe this would be the one, but again, afterwards I saw nothing. I just went to my fifth this past Monday and was freaking out at the dermatologist, (who by the way seems to really want to help me I think), telling her that I haven't see any improvement so far and should I even spend $500 more after I have already spent $2000 which has gotten me zero results? She said she was going to be more aggressive with this 5th treatment and try a new technique where she does a series of passes without changing the cooling gel. Well, its two days after the treatment and I'm not sure if its too soon to tell yet having not had any improvements after the previous treatments, but I see nothing and I am really, really upset. The derm told me Monday that sometimes it takes as many as ten treatments for improvement (she didn't mention this before) and I'm wondering if this is true and should I keep trying with this or does this treatment just not work for some people and I am wasting my money. Does the V-Beam work better for some than the photoderm? If anyone has any suggestions or similar experiences with the photoderm, I would really appreciate hearing them. I have learned alot from this group from reading the posts. le
