I was wondering how things were going with you, Becky. Sounds like

you had a tough last week. I hope this week is better for you. :)

Cover Girl's Aqua Smooth makeup contains some ingredients I've not

seen before, but what struck me was the niacinamide. You may have

missed the thread last week about topical niacinamide 4% not (yet)

available in the US. I contacted the company that makes an oral

niacinamide product (Sirius Labs) and they were to mail me research

supporting the anti-inflammatory effects of niacinamide on the skin,

both oral and topical. I haven't been able to find any studies on my

own.

So not only Olay's Special Effect, but now Cover Girl has

niacinamide. Assuming it is effective, niacinamide would have to be

at a certain concentration (presumably 4%). It looks like Aqua Smooth

also contains Panthenol (Vit B5) and Tocopheryl Acetate (Vit E), so

it too has a complex of vitamins -- aren't those the same complex as

in Special Effects?

Both Olay and Cover Girl are Procter and Gamble products. I wonder if

this is just another example of re-packaging similar ingredients for

different markets (and prices). I know P&G does that in their

Reflect.com products.

Take care.
