He has been through 6 ERCP's and just got home from the hospital again last night. We have been given he option of surgery. The doctors are talking about taking the tail of his pancreatis out completely. I am lookin gfor anyone who can give us any advice on this. If anyone has had it or has been given this option. We have been told that it is major surgery and is complicated. It will be more for pain management than anything else. He has been abttling this for 4 years now, and just with in the past year and a half had to have the ERCP's done. In January of 2001 he had a severe attack and had a pancreatic stone block his common bile duct. At the time we had doctors that just kept giving him pain meds and sending him home. We were put in contact with a GI at town hospital and he performed the first ERCP. We later foundout that his bile duct was blocked and that his liver was in the process of shuting down. Basically he was poisoning hismself through is blood. After we got that straight, he went about living his normal life. The attacks started again in May of thi year and we went back to the stints again. For some reason the one they put in this summer never was quite right and got blocked and had to be removed 2 months later and then another one put in just yesterday.
