Guest guest
I have not seem my response come up in the messages so I may be repeating myself. My name is Jackie and I asked the question about Roux-En-Y versus MGB. I didn't mean to start a heated debate. When I sit down and discussed my insurance company's stand on a participating provider performing the surgery, she suggested I go check out Dr. Farrell at UNC to see what he had to say and make a decision from there. She felt Dr. R's procedure was not the only way to go. She did state though that Dr. R had done more for the obese than anyone by making the medical community more patient friendly for the obese. So even if he doesn't perform my surgery he has certainly been a great deal of help to me anyway. I have actually been surprised to see changes in some physicians as I discussed this surgery. Instead of lectures I have actually gotten a lot of support from the physicians I have had to consult with concerning this procedure, from a pulmonologist to a psychiatrist. So even if I had been completely denied, some wonderful things have come out of the just taking the journey for insurance approval. I had doctor's who actually treated me with resepct. What a new experience. Whether it is Dr. R. or Dr. Farrell who does my surgery, God bless Dr. R. He has furthered the cause for us all.
