Guest guest Posted November 24, 2002 Report Share Posted November 24, 2002 Hi , My son is 8 years old and has a central line, double lumen and it is the best thing we could have done for him. He has not had any pokes for any thing since it was put in. had his put in because he is totally dependant on TPN and Lipids, due to chronic pancreatits, but we use it for everything,such as blood draws, intervenous meds, anesthesia, protonix, dye injections for radiology procedures etc. He also had very poor veins, so this has been a very positive thing for us. It is a little extra work to maintain it, but is well worth it considering you don't have to watch your child SUFFER!! His line was actually placed while he was put out for a ERCP.
