Hello All,

Today is my one month anniversary! I have lost 24 lbs this month. Not

record setting, but not bad! I am pleased.

My surgery was a piece of cake, the past few weeks have been more difficult

but ok. I only was able to stay on the liquids exclusively, for 10 days. I

have had varying degrees of success with eating. I can eat many soft foods,

and meats, but sometimes get sick without too much warning. I still drink a

lot more than I eat. For example, I can't tolerate rice at all. Seems

strange to me, but it just doesn't work. I can however, eat small amounts of

chicken and beef, baked potatoes, salad, and lots of other things. Salad is

my food of choice. Now THERE'S a change! I have stayed away from sugar and

have not had too much of a desire for it. Tomorrow is my son's birthday

party, so here's hoping I can stay away from the cake!

I am more tired than usual, but I have to be honest and say that I am

generally only taking the mandatory meds, not all the supplements. I am

going to try to do better about that this month. Today was a tough day. I

woke up with bile reflux. Really disgusting. I am not sure why I would have

this problem at THIS stage, but it was awful and did leave me feeling bad

most of the day. If you know what causes this or how to prevent it, or even

WHY it would occur one month post op, please let me know.

I have been exercising SOME, but not enough. Energy is an issue. After

attending a water aroebic's class that I really enjoyed, I came home and

slept 5 hours! I think it is a cycle and I am going to have to exercise to

GET more energy. I will also be working on that this month!

I have noticed an increase (although not a great one) in my depression. I am

seeing my therapist once a week and she is not too concerned at this point

and I am on medication for it. (I have been on medication for years, not just

since surgery.) I just find that I am less interested in the list (but not

the people on it) and that I am bored! I think I just miss my old friend

food. I also think part of it is that I am experiencing the rebound of

basically eliminating sugar from my diet. That has always made me feel worse

before I felt better and has always taken a long time too.

I hope this doesn''t sound too negative, as I am only trying to give you an

honest picture of my experience. I would do this again in a heart beat and

feel lucky to have been able to cross over to the other side. It is amazing

to realize that the months before sugery, I could not get below my surgery

weight no matter what, and now I am 24 LBS below it, and 34 from my all time

high. That, my dear friends is the real miracle!!! Even though it is ONLY 24

lbs, I weigh less than I have weighed since shortly after my last son was

born.

I try to read as much of the list as I can, but it is hard to keep up with it

all. Please know, however, that you are all in my prayers and thoughts and

that I am always willing to be a contact if you write me directly.

Safe journey,

MGB 03 MAY 00

Safely on the other side!!!!
