Hey Tony,

Did you find the Titanic pages from the Nova Scotia Museum?

http://titanic.gov.ns.ca/

http://museum.gov.ns.ca/mma/titanic/titanic.htm

If you're a history buff do you know why the Christmas tree that sits in

Copley Square in Boston each year is sent to you from Nova Scotia? Halifax

and Boston have a long history and lots of connections.

Hugs,

Pam

Hey, Pam --

Great links (I have seen the Encyclopedia Titanica, but not the

others.)

I'd guess the tree is there because of the many times Boston and

Halifax seafarers have rescued each other, but that's only a guess.

Tell me all! (BTW, I live about five blocks from Copley Square).

Something like that Tony... have you heard of the Halifax Explosion - Dec 6,

1917?

Read all about it: http://www.region.halifax.ns.ca/community/explode.html

Hugs,

Pam

Good Heavens, OF COURSE I had known that, but forgotten until you

brought it to mind (can I chalk that up to my MSA?). Yes, Haligonians

have a very special place in the hearts of Bostonians. No wonder.

Hugs back to you, Pam

Dear Pam: The Christmas Tree from Halifax, N.S. every year is beautiful. It is now put up at the Prudential Center, close to Copley Square. A lot of time is spent decorating it and last year it was very pretty as it changed colors every few minutes with alternating lights. They have a large celebration when it is lit and Halifax is always mentioned as the generous benefactor of the beautiful tree. On TV they show the large truck it comes on and the lighting ceremony is always highlighted as a special event. We always say a little prayer for the terrible tragedy the poor people must have endured and bless them for the generosity of the survivors who appreciated the help of the people of Massachusetts.

Take Care, Pat from Framingham, Massachusetts
