Guest guest
Thanks for the information on the hoyer lift--at least it is reassuring that one person can operate it, and while the easy pivot might be better, the new hoyer lift is here so I will work with that. I don't know that I could push Sam around in it--nor would he let me--he'd be afraid that I would bump him to death, but to get from the wheelchair to the bed will be helpful, and if he ever ends up on the floor again, I can retrieve him. What a wonderful group we have.
Guest guest
One thing more, try out the sling empty to see how it would be best to hook the sling to the lift. Mine is color coded and I use green purple to transfer to chair (more seated) and green green to transfer to bed. But try it out empty and you can see the angle. Guest guest
Your comment about retrieving him from the floor reminded me of the time the Hoyer lift did its job for me. As many of you know, I have a very energetic Standard Poodle. One day. just as I was walking down our hall with my arms full of laundry, the dog came charging in through our dog door and hit me in the back of my legs. I went flying! first up, and then down on my face with laundry all over. There I was, stuck! Ken's helper came along with the Hoyer lift and told me to hang on while he hoisted me up. Within seconds, he had me standing on two feet no worse for the wear. Barbara
