Guest guest
Ann: Sorry about the late response - I have gotten behind. Terry has had diabetes type II for as long as she has had first PD, then the new Dx was MSA/SND a couple of years ago. Her diet is not as limited as Denny's is which does complicate problems. I would urge you to find a first class endocrinologist to help manage the diabetes. The techniques and meds have improved greatly in recently years. Where are you in Virginia - near Charlottesville? We have an excellent endocrinologist I would be glad to suggest here at UVa. Incidentally, the old time approach of dealing only with sugar is pretty much passe now. It is a whole diet thing, but not with the rigor of just a few years ago. I would be glad to offer other comments on the phone if you like. PS I found the email comments form " Ann and Denny Poole " to be on the money as well. He has had MSA for 7 years... we think...diagnoised 98. Does anyone out there have a similar situation?? His diet is so limited because of the choking.. we thicken everything. His Dr. and I think it is so ridiculous to put him on a strict diet at this point in his disease, but I certainly want to try to keep it under control to a degree. I don't think we have to think of long term affects like blindness or or loss of limbs, as his MSA has progressed rapidly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Guest guest
Deborah, I am now off the steroids, but I blew up like a toad, don't know if I will be able to get this weight off. The told me I would not run sugar after I quit taking the how powered shots in the vein, and I guess they are right, right now I seem to be normal(except for the weight). Sorry I am so long answering but I am that many days behind in everything. Take care, Ann from Soddy,TN
