Guest guest
Marty, Like many of us we've had friends who have asked how can they help. In one case we've decided to meet once a week for dinner. They know and accept Peg as she is and we have good conversation. In other cases I've discussed when others who want to help can come to visit Peg for an hour. I find the continuation of extended human contact is helpful. It's also been helpful to be more direct about suggestions on how a friend can be helpful. Jim T. I wonder how others deal with this. Annette takes an antidepressant which I believe is very helpful. However She is still kind of depressed. Guest guest
Marty and Jim, I have just started to do some of the things that Jim talk about, and it DOES help. We had friends over to our house on Saturday, which was great for Rob since he didn't have to worry about where the bathroom was, there was not background noise so his speech was easier to understand and he could move around rather than just sit at a table. I also asked his best friend to speak to some other of his buddies and try to arrange for one of them to take Rob to lunch -- my goal is for him to have a lunch date once a month. It was hard to ask for this, but Rob's friend was happy to have an " assignment " and really wants to help. Sometimes people want to help but don't know how.
