I had some plastic surgery in April. They removed the panni

(apron). What I had to prove for medically necessity was 1) the

amount of excess skin (if you are having to lift it up to wash this

should be enough). 2) Persistant yeast and kidney infections because

of inability to keep clean especially during warm weather. 3) The

excess skin was causing strain on my lower back which usually meant

taking prescription medication. 4) I also was a border line diabetic

and was running a risk of more diabetic sores.

As for the breast, if you can prove how it effects your back you

may be able to get it covered. In the states, getting your breast

done is almost always considered cosmetic thus it is harder to get it

covered.

When I went into the plastic surgeon, I listed all of the problems

I was having. I was very specific. This made it a lot easier for

the plastic surgeon to prove medical necessity. Good luck in your

endeavors. Lori Owen

Lori,

Thanks for that. I never thought about that. I'm from Florida....hot

weather! I've been in Denmark for 3 years now and haven't had a kidney

infection since. I used to get them constantly. Never put 2 and 2 together.

I will also be moving home in Sept.

I did think about the fact that I am constantly going pee. I even went to

the doctor for it a few months ago because I was so tired of living in the

bathroom. Full examination and found nothing wrong. I guessed that it was

something I just had to live with. You know, it might be in my head and

all??? Anyway, I do remember someone mentioning that the skirt hanging on

the bladder can cause problems with this.

Thanks again,

Dawn

since we are on the subject of plastics again I'm wondering if anyone has

had external stitches that were self dissolving? and how long did they take

to actually dissolve?

all previous surgeries i've had the surgeon used staples. this last time i

got the dry heaves from a medication i was prescribed right after the

staples were removed and i basically split myself open. the scar when it

healed is like 3 " wide. i'm having a scar revision done and its stitches not

staples this time, although they are self dissolving so i don't have to go

back to have them removed a few weeks after.

anyone?

Yes, I had the dissolvable stitches for my abdominoplasty. They were

internal, though...don't ask me how. Occasionally, there would be a

loose end somewhere that you just snip off, but that was pretty much

over within a couple of weeks. The scar is beautiful and healed very

quickly, thanks to a lot of luck, protein and vitamins.

Sue,

I had jaw surgery some time ago. The surgery required dissolving

stitches on the inside of the mouth. It took about 2 weeks. Now I don't

know if they use the same kind outside as they would inside the mouth but

I would think it would dissolve rather quickly.

<<I'm wondering if anyone has had external stitches that were self dissolving?

Hernia repair, abdominoplasty w/full anchor incision, and mastopexy - all

stitches were internal. There were a couple that poked out at the ends of the

incisions here and there, but surgeon just clipped those off at one of the

followups. I have a very, very thin scar line, except for where the incision

got infected and opened around the belly button.

Sue,

I had a TT/hernia repair 10/25 with dissolving stitches. My scar looks

great, all be it very looooong. The only stitches he has removed have been

the ones around my new belly button. I can feel lumps under the scar.

Massage makes them go away. I was warned that sometimes stitches can not

dissolve and work their way out. I haven't experienced this.

hope this helps,
