Twisted Intestine

Yup, just did have surgery for that very thing. Surgery was an in

and out deal and I didn't even slow down for this one. Did have to

give up the gym for about 6 weeks, but could do walking or stairmaster

(ing) after a day or two. But....don't expect the pain to magically

disappear with the surgery. I had expected the pain to be gone as

soon as everything was *unkinked* and sewed down. Pain persisted and

even increased for about 12 days after. Finally went to the doc and

he gave me a script for some little sublingual pills to stop the

*cramping pain* and boy, howdy did they ever do the job. So if the

pain persists don't wait for a couple of weeks before calling your

doc, there are meds out there to help. Now, a couple of months

later, no problems and I returned to the gym and even began weight

training.

I was diagnosed with a twisted intestine at 18 months post op. The

operations is very simple. They make an incision, reach in, straighten

out the intestine and close you back up. The intestine is not cut. The

recovery time should be a week. It was a month in my case because they

also took out my gallbladder at the same time.
