Guest guest
Hey Sis-- Five days & counting--woo hoo! Can't wait to meet ya in Durham! I saw the 48 hours, it was a repeat; ironically, it was seeing that show the first time it aired (about 6 months ago, I think) that planted the seed in my mind regarding surgery. I remember asking my husband (as we were watching that silly lady taking microscopic nibbles of her Ritz--I hope, for her sake, that she was " hamming " a little for the camera) " Would you think I was crazy if I said I wanted to get that surgery? " His reply: " YES! " Well, now that I've found the MGB, I'd agree that it would be crazy for me to get THAT surgery! Hubby's come around too--bless his heart, he didn't think I was fat enought to get it! (I weigh 270; I'm certain he would place me under 200--reminiscent of that funny series of posts a few weeks ago about how our husbands just DON'T NEED TO KNOW THE TRUE WEIGHT...lol!) Anyway, I agree with you about the bimbo--she just didn't have a clue that the " prison " she describes, even if true (which doesn't seem the case, of course) is far preferable to the " prison " that each of us live in every single day of our lives! I'd like to knock her skinny little butt right off from that desk and right into the floor! hee hee The reporter didn't really bother me though--he's just asking the question that 99% of his audience (nim-nuts that they are! oh, wait a minute, WE were watching too) wanted to ask. Just a few more days Ms. L, and we can trade these prisons of ours in! woo hoo! --a > Did everyone watch 48 hours . . geez . . how glad are you that we have all > decided on mgb?? The Gastric Bypass looks HORRIBLE! Guest guest
Hi, All I have to say is " WOW!! " . I have been investigating/considering WLS for a couple of months and just found your web site. I signed up for the e-mail group last night and just found 34 e-mails waiting for me!!! What a great response! You guys all seem wonderfully supportive and informative. I am going to continue to follow the site and these e-mails to help me with my decision. There is nothing like getting your information from someone who has been there and I consider myself lucky to have found all of you! Thanks.... Guest guest
Welcome Alice. We love to share what a wonderful experience we have had with MGB. Hey you guys, I felt kind of smug after watching 48 hours last night. I didn't have an incision and I wasn't in the operating room for four and a half hours! Guest guest
I couldn't believe how that skinny woman talked about mini gastric.... hey why don't we get Dr. Rutledge up there on the television to share with the world this wonderful surgery?!? Thanks Dr. Rutledge, I will always be greatful to you! Why is it that people think if we just go on another diet everything will be ok and we will lose the weight? Why can't people see beyond diets? Thank goodness Dr. R saw beyond all that. Deena rebirth date(6/8/00)
Guest guest
This CBS program next week will be about weight loss, including the " newest " surgery which they are touting as " safer " than gastric bypass--the lap band, and other weight loss methods as well. In the Chicago area it airs at 7pm Fri, 11/30. In case anyone is interested. Carol A
Guest guest
Has anyone else noticed, on their local TV stations all the weight loss stories since Al started talking? Our ABC affilitate is covering a young man (28) who weighed in at 500+ a year ago. he has lost 200+. He really told it like it is. " Warts " and all! I started to cry because even though we are nearly 40 years apart the emotional and physical issues are the same! His sister had the bypass too and she is doing very well . I am so glad that Al has gone public. Hopefully people will lose some of their prejudices re morbid obesity and " the easy way out!!! " To think, I had to go to Dallas 1 year ago and now we have a BUNCH of surgeons in bariatric surgery. Thank God times are changing! Gotta go to bed..I have a date with a trainer at 7! OUCH!
