Guest guest
Pam, Thank you for being right on top of finding pictures of this bird. I should have known you would. When I was growing up in Upstate NY there was bird who would make nest in our back yard right on the ground. When she had laid her eggs the male and female would be very protective and would run all over the yard trying to keep you away from the nest. It worked for me, I wasn't getting near it which made it bad when the yard had to be mowed. There were no trees or vegetation around to protect their nests from sight which I thought it odd they would build a nest like that. Does anyone know what kind of bird that would have been? Thanks, Belinda > http://www.wbu.com/chipperwoods/photos/junco.htm > http://www.slivoski.com/birding/junco.htm > http://birdsource.cornell.edu/gbbc/birdid/deju/
Guest guest
Belinda -- It's probably an ostritch. Maybe an emu. Helpfully, Tony in Boston (where the ostritches roam) > > http://www.wbu.com/chipperwoods/photos/junco.htm > > http://www.slivoski.com/birding/junco.htm > > http://birdsource.cornell.edu/gbbc/birdid/deju/
Guest guest
Tony, You crack me up! It wasn't an Ostrich or an Emu! It wasn't nearly that big. It was a small body with long legs. Ok, Tony, I am giving you another chance at guessing. hehehehe Gotta love ya, Belinda > > > http://www.wbu.com/chipperwoods/photos/junco.htm > > > http://www.slivoski.com/birding/junco.htm > > > http://birdsource.cornell.edu/gbbc/birdid/deju/
