Guest guest
Well, here we go again, to supplement or not to supplement. Just my $.02, as says, but at this point we all ought to just agree to disagree. We're all adults; we've studied, read, argued, pontificated, postulated, and absolutely beat this horse to death. I had the same doc that Ray did; I'm 3 1/2 years out. Nope, my doc doesn't advocate protein sups....except in those cases where it is obvious that a person is malnourished and needs the extra nutrition. But at the same time, I'm working hard to build muscle, I work out a lot, and I've read enough on here to figure out that the sups definitely won't hurt me, and might just help me....so I do 'em. Not 180 grams a day, but I get in at least an extra 50 or so per day. I have read the evidence, the opinions, and formed my own beliefs accordingly. Now, if I have problems...or if I don't...no one can take the blame, or the credit, but me. Ray, you're a nice guy and all, and I know you believe without a doubt that what you are doing is the right thing for you. But man, I've seen you at the meetings and you look like a scarecrow....you are thin to the point of emaciation, you look older than your years...and quite frankly, I'm not at all sure all that soda and vitamins are doing you a hell of a lot of good. If you feel good, then that's great....but the proof is " in the pudding " and you don't look so healthy to me. Anyway, this debate about water or soda, protein sups or no, this calcium or that....it really gets old after a while. Just tell us what's working for YOU, post your pics on the files section, let us check out the bods of all the " experts " , read about how they do or do not exercise, do or do not do sups, caffeine, calcium, whatever, and then we can all look at each other and decide who to emulate. And you can check out a few of my pics in the Files section, KC's pics. Putting my money where my mouth is, so to speak. And YMMV. Guest guest
YMMV. ____________________________________ What does that mean? I missed somethin' I think... I don't think it's very nice to attack someone's looks... Isn't that what we went thru as fat people? This is just my opinion, and I'm sure that many of you would think I'm too thin also....I've been called a scarecrow and to tell ya the truth it didn't bother me at all, but then again I wasn't called that in such a public forum.. BTW, my pics are on my site that's listed in my signature.... I think I may go add some to the files section also, since Auburn has scored twice in the first quarter and I feel ill to my stomach.... I need a beer... (let's see what kinda responses the beer statement will get). Randy rlogle@... www.geocities.com/rogle32/ AIM: rlogleeln Open RNY: Sept. 26, 2001: 204 lbs gone. Guest guest
Your Mileage May Vary (in other words, a disclaimer that, " This works for me personally but you will need to investigate, experiment and then decide for yourself! " ). I think kind of like the automobile ad claims... Guest guest
I did not mean this as an attack on Ray's looks, but let's all be honest...we want to LOOK healthy too, right? And (personal opinion) Ray doesn't look healthy....and I am commenting because he pushes his vits, soda, no protein...and like I said, the proof is in the pudding. I'd be interested in seeing his lab numbers as well, including trends. I always get a copy of my lab work and pay attention not just to what the numbers are now, but what they have been each and every time, and where they are headed.... Blood work, history of complications, current weight, blood pressure, and yes, even our looks...are all indications of how healthy we are. And quite frankly, when someone is telling what is working for them, I DO check out their pics in the files section....to see if indeed it " looks " like it's really working for them. If someone on this list was telling me that they eat 16 Big Macs a day and wash it down with 2 gallons of Coke, and " it's working for me " , I guarantee I'll be checking out their pics, if posted, to form my own opinion of how well they are doing. Chances are, if they are still in the 250+ range, I will take their advice with a grain of salt. Again, sorry if I offended, I'm just being honest here about what I think. I do think our health is reflected in our physical being to a large extent. KC Re: To supplement or not to supplement?? That is the debate...
