Hi Pam,

I actually just bought one (1) MetRx bar last night...to try. I got the

extreme vanilla. And actually, the flavor of it was pretty good...but it

was the texture that I had a problem with. I'm not quite sure, but I'd

compare it to a bar made out of pressed sawdust flavored with vanilla,

tastes great, but more than just a bit dry and chalky. If you can handle

the texture thing and you like vanilla, you might try that one. hehehe

Hi ,

PRESSED SAWDUST!! SOUNDS SIMPLY DELICIOUS!!! HA! HA! HA!! But seriously, thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try the vanilla flavor this time. I tried both the chocolate chip cookie dough and the brownie, and they were horrible.

OKay, I'll try the vanilla, but if it's terrible, I'm holding you responsible!!!!! LOL!! :)

Pam,

I will take full responsibility if it's terrible! hahaha Actually....just

make sure you have some water to wash it down with, and it should be fine.

:) Like I said, it's not WONDERFUL....and I certainly wouldn't say that

it's my most favorite thing in the world, but it wasn't too bad. It does

have a nice flavor once you get past the texture thing....or at least I

think so. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :)

If you can make them taste like a Blizzard, then I'll pay top dollar!! LOL!! You're right, you know - if you came up with such a thing, you'd be a VERY rich woman!!! You could hire your OWN PERSONAL SURGEON, and he could perform the surgery in your own house!! LOL!! Now wouldn't THAT be cool?

Looks like I now know what my new occupation is going to be. I will need to

develop a protein supplement that is low calorie and tastes as good as

something from the Diary Queen! Well....my only question would be how much

are you willing to pay for such a wonderful thing?? As far as I can tell,

it would be worth it's weight in gold! hahaha

And low carb, and low fat, doesn't need juice, milk, bananas, or

yogurt, or a blender, mixes with water only, and tastes just like

everyone's favorite beverage, no matter what that is!

I'll buy it!!

Wow Ellen,

You drive a hard bargain. I guess I'll get started tonight on it!

Perhaps I should consult with Wily Wonka and see if he has any suggestions.

I mean, he seems to make all kinds of crazy stuff....who ever heard of

lickable wallpaper! hahaha

If I were a rich woman, I wouldn't even bother with the DS surgery.

Instead, I would just pay to have my brain transplanted into the body of

some gorgeous super model and go from there! hahahaha

Got this idea from a thread a few days ago... Why not design some

simple, high protein, tasteless capsules that will dissolve in water

within 10 minutes or so? Small enough to swallow easily yet potent

enough so we don't have to pop, like, a dozen in one shot.

I did a quick search online and there doesn't seem to be much

available; at least not that advertise the number of grams of protein

they contain per capsule.

Anyone know of any good protein capsules out there?

I am a pre-op and I tried the Advantage or Advanced

Edge Protien bar (I sit here and shudder as I remember

the taste) I bought to see what it tasted it like and

I thought it would be great at 32 grams of protien but

dear lord did it taste horribly so if you can come up

with something that taste good SIGN ME UP!!!!!! LOL

Okay, due to the number of responses of people ready to sign up for my yet

to be developed high protein, low carb, great tasting product, I have

decided that my price has changed. Instead of it being worth it's weight in

gold....it'll be worth MY weight in gold (my current weight that is....price

doesn't become less as I become smaller)!! hehehehe

Ditto for me Lori,

I too had the SRVG and need the protein and WATER!! I really feel the

difference if I vary on either of these.

I changed doctors recently and when my CBC came back he was amazed. They

were better than he thought they would be. Also, my bone density came back

and he said it was like a 40 year old's! Yee hah!

Anyway I will do what I need to do for ME! My new doc has never had a WLS

patient before so he is reading and asking lots of questions of me and

surgeons. (???)

He says he will probably have many more WLS patients in the future and he

wants to be ready! This is going to be a ride! What an opportunity!

I am not an expert on protein and protein supplements. I also

had the SRVG so malabsorption is not really an issue for me. So the only

thing I can draw from is my knowledge of my own body. I know that I

function best on about 50 to 65 mg of protein a day. There are days

especially during my monthly cycle that I cannot eat my needed protein.

It seems nothing but liquids and pureed stuff stays down. Consequently

on those days, I need to take my protein in protein supplements. Each of

us is different even among the same surgery. So for me to tell someone

that they need more than the RDA requires is not my job. I do recommend

at least 50 mg of protein a day. Anything over that is up to you and

your body not me and my opinion.
